What’s the standard of good pellets?
Why do pellets get popular?
Wood pellets are made of agricultural and forestry wastes, like corn stalk, rice straw, wheat bran, grass, sawdust and so on. With the help of pellet machines, these wastes are pressed into density pellets to burn as biofuels. Nowadays, with the bad pollution of coal and oil, and pellets are known as clean and environmental friendly fuel, so now pellets are widely used in pellet stove, power plant, and other places. What’s more, pellets have high heat efficiency and low pollutant emission, and it is convenient to store and transport pellets because of the small volume and weight.
Since wood pellets are so popular all over the world, especially in Europe and America, more and more people begin to use pellets as one of the businesses which can earn money. So pellets production and transaction are relevant with all over the world. Therefore, to identify good pellets or not is becoming more and more important. Generally speaking, we can judge pellets from these points: heat, density, ash content, combustion ratio, moisture content and etc.
Among the standards of good pellets or not, combustion ratio and ash content is relatively important. And in the biomass market, high quality pellets refers to those with quite low ash content and high density. And generally the moisture content of good pellets is under 10%.
High density pellets are less affected by transportation and with high combustion efficiency. The high quality pellets come out of the pellet machine with a smooth surface and small cracks. If the wood pellets are fluffy and easy to crack, that means they have too much water, or not enough compression.
When the high quality pellets get cold. The surface should be smooth, especially the sawdust pellets. The other important factor is hardness. You can use hard objects to hit the particles and see if they break. The length of wood pellets is not a key factor, but excessively long pellets may cause the burner to be damaged.
Advantages of GEMCO pellets
- The pellets density made by our pellet mill can be 1.1-1.3ton/m3, which greatly decreases biomass volume and saving storage area.
- The wood pellets made by our pellet mill have smooth and even surface, and also good appearance, so that they have high quality and can sell at higher price.
- Pellets are from 6-12 mm in diameter, to be selected by the user.
- High quality final pellets: The intensity, thickness, length, etc are strictly standardized.
- Without dust ,smokeless, cleanliness. no CO, pollution-free.
